The Hive
The Hive is our co-working space on the first floor of the Skaidrite Darius building (formerly CSIT, 108 North Rd). Teams are allocated a day each in the Hive and assigned a pod to work in. You will only have access to the Hive on your allocated day.
Teams are expected to work a full day together (9am to 5pm) in person, every week on their assigned day. You must check in using the check-in PC in The Hive to confirm your attendance twice: once before 11am and once after 2pm.
Teams will have regular weekly meetings with their tutor and with their stakeholders on this day.
Agile Sprints
Teams follow a set Agile methodology and schedule. You will work in 3-week sprints, with sprint reviews at the end of each sprint. Sprint reviews are formative — the evidence you gather feeds into your Sprint Grade Case (30% per semester). Tutors act as scrum masters, providing ongoing guidance and support in planning and meeting team project goals, schedule, and tasks.

START and END Teams
The course schedule, assessment, and projects run over 2 semesters. Teams have a different schedule and activities in their first versus second semester. We call these START versus END teams (so as not to confuse with S1 and S2).
START Teams (First Semester)
- Weeks 1-2: Team formation (orientation, preferences, allocation)
- Week 3: Planning with tutor, tool setup in The Hive
- Weeks 4-6: Sprint 1
- Weeks 7-9: Sprint 2
- Weeks 10-12: Sprint 3
END Teams (Second Semester)
- Weeks 1-3: Sprint 4
- Weeks 4-6: Sprint 5
- Weeks 7-9: Sprint 6
- Weeks 10-12: Delivery & Showcase

Orientation Lecture
We only have a single orientation lecture in week 1 on Monday, 23rd of February 2026, between 9:05 am and 10:55 am in Lowitja O’Donoghue Cultural Centre, Cinema Room 1.02 (formerly known as Kambri Cinema). Everyone who is new to the course should attend. Continuing teams should send at least one team member.
