TechLauncher for Students
There are many ways to get involved as a student in TechLauncher.
CECS Students
CECS students must complete the following steps to participate in TechLauncher:
- Students must enrol in one of the following courses:
- Students can browse or propose their own projects using the TechLauncher Management System.
- All new students must attend the TechLauncher Team Formation Night.
Other Students
Innovative and disruptive ideas often come from outside the computing and engineering context. They often emerge in the boundaries between disciplines. It is also the case that computing and other technology is often required to bring such ideas to life.
We recognises this reality by inviting students from any part of the ANU to participate in TechLauncher. These students will work with technical experts to bring their ideas to life.
Technical ability not necessary -
we need your other skills
Being an expert in building software and technology is not a requirement for TechLauncher. We are looking for students that have a great idea and/or a passion for working in multidisciplinary teams to create things that can make life better for others.
If you’ve ever thought, ‘If I could turn this into an app, I could change the world!’, then TechLauncher is for you.
Non-CECS students must complete the following steps to participate in TechLauncher.
- Students must enrol in COMP3710 - Topics in Computer Science. Contact one of the Course Convenors for details including a permission code.
- Students can browse or propose their own projects using the TechLauncher Management System.
- All new students must attend the TechLauncher Team Formation Night.
Students will need to discuss their enrolment with one of the Course Convenors and ensure that the course can be taken within their degree (note that this course can usually count as a computing, science or university elective). If everything is OK, the course coordinator will issue a permission code which can be used to enrol in this course.
Note that non-computing students do not need to be enrolled in a TechLauncher course for the entire duration of a project. For example, students from non-computing disciplines may enrol in COMP3710 for a single semester, but continue, if they choose, to be involved in a project for a longer period of time.
