Ushini is an ANU PhD student exploring the opportunities (and challenges!) of teaching computing through creative code. During her undergraduate degree (in fact, through the c/c/c studio) Ushini discovered livecoding, introducing her to a creative practice and a community which she is very passionate about.

Before becoming a PhD student, Ushini completed a Bachelor of Advanced Computing where she looked at the role AI can play in computer music—specifically the ways in which it can stimulate or stifle creativity. Her final year research project helped her gain a better understanding of how this shapes the way we design computational tools which allow musicians to interact with an intelligent agent in a musical setting. For a deeper dive into this work, read her VL/HCC paper Disruption and Creativity in Live Coding.
