Launchpad McQuack - re:rIoT.11

Let’s just SEND IT (#LaunchPost)

So the project has finally come to an end and everything is finished (well that’s not true, nor is it ever the case, but the deadline is here and I have got a working prototype).
It has been an amazing experience and I’m so excited to see what I can do with everything I’ve learned during my time on this project. But for now, let’s talk about the launch of ‘Catalyst Jukebox’.

What is it?

Catalyst Jukebox is a Raspberry Pi based, socailly driven jukebox for the modern era, utilising Spotify to provide the music library. It is a re-imagining and update on the jukeboxes of old, using IoT devices to encourage and provide social engagement around all topics music (and beyond).

Sick of seeing people on their phones in your bar, restaurant, eatery, roaming circus? Well then this might be just the device you’re looking for.

The project source code is available on Github, go check it out!
If you wanna follow my journey discovering China, learning about the IoT and developing this project, you can follow my blogposts here.
If you’re only interested in the making of this project then start at week 6 and read onwards from there.
If you want a better insight into my design process and other thoughts around the concept and so on, check out my design rationale.

My Battery Is Low and It’s Getting Dark

I just want to take the time to thank Ben and Kieran for the awesome trip and course they put together (and all their support throughout), it’s been such a great experience and I’ve enjoyed every moment.
I’d also like to thank the other classmates for being a part of it, it wouldn’t have been the same without you guys! And in the end everyone made such great projects, the showcase was just such a good collection of presentations.
Big ups to Ushini, love your project and low key jealous of your livecoding skills, teach me please.
