This page is for students who have received a grade of “PX” in COMP1720/6720.
About Supplementary Assessment
Students who achieve a final mark in an ANU course which is between 45 and 49 are eligible for supplementary assessment to attempt to pass the course. If you are in this situation, you will have received a grade of “PX” for COMP1720/6720.
In order to pass the supplementary assessment you need to clearly demonstrate that you have met all of the learning outcomes for COMP1720/6720.
If you pass the supplementary assessment you will pass the course with a grade of “50PS”. If you fail the supplementary assessment your grade will be “N” or “NCN”.
If you receive a final grade of less than 45 in COMP1720/6720, you are not eligible for supplementary assessment.
Supplementary Assessment for COMP1720/6720.
Your supplementary assessment task for COMP1720/6720 is to:
- improve your major project and
- explain how your project meets the stated requirements.
Your improved major project is due by 23:59 Friday 17/2/2022 AEDT and should be submitted on GitLab.
Your explanation of how your project meets the marking criteria should be submitted on Wattle (link).
No late submissions will be accepted.
Details of how to complete these tasks is below.
Task 1: Improving your Major Project
Now is your chance to improve your major project and clearly demonstrate that you have met all of the learning outcomes. Your improved major project will need to gain a mark of 60 or above to pass the supplementary assessment.
If your mark for your major project is below 50, your current project will need a lot of improvement to be acceptable. It is likely that you have not created an “interactive p5 artwork” and that you do not have sufficient content to produce an “engaging experience of roughly three minutes”.
You will need to go back to the major project page and think about all the advice given to you about how to approach the project.
If your mark for your major project was above 50, you are already on the right track, but your performance in other areas of the course is well below expectations. You still need to make a substantial improvement to your work to pass this assessment. Think about whether your project is really an engaging interactive artwork, and what you could add to achieve that.
Again, have a look at the major project page and think carefully about the instructions. Remember that you must make a clear improvement to your project to pass.
Don’t forget to improve your artistic statement to match your improved project and don’t forget to have an absolutely comprehensive references.md
which lists any collaborations, assets downloaded from the web or code from other people which in your assignment.
Your improvement must be committed and pushed to GitLab by the deadline listed above. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Task 2: Self-Evaluation.
This is your chance to explain why your major project is clearly of “good quality” or higher and should achieve a mark of 60 or above.
In up to 200 words explain why your major project meets all of the following requirements listed on the major project page:
- relate to the theme in a meaningful way
- be interactive: the viewer should be able to interact with the artwork using either the keyboard, mouse, microphone, camera, or some combination those input devices
- be engaging and coherent: use what you know about drawing and interaction in p5 to make your submission an artwork that grabs the viewer’s attention and demands exploration for roughly three minutes
- use interaction to enhance experience: this means that interacting with your work reveals aspects that are not available without interaction, and that deeper interaction leads to more engaging experiences
If you do not submit an improvement to your project by the deadline above, your evaluation will not be graded and you will fail the supplementary assessment.
Your self-evaluation should be submitted on Wattle (link)
N.B.:
references.md
This is an individual assessment task. The use of any uncited assets, code, or assistance in completing this task will result in a fail and an investigation into your academic integrity. Make sure to update your references.md
to identify any resources that you did not create that are included or applied in your major project.
Interview
If your self-evaluation is not sufficient to explain why your improved major project should pass you may be invited to an interview with the course convenor to provide further details.
