Creative Computing Education Research Participation

We are trying to find better ways to teach creative computing and that all start with gaining insights about your learning experience in this course.

We want to learn about your approach to problem solving. What gets you excited about designing creative computing artefacts? What frustrates you? What questions do you ask yourself as you are programming?

In order to gain these insights, we would like to collect some data about your learning and we’ll be using multiple methods of data collection.

What’s involved in participating?

All of the data we collect from your learning may be presented in reports or published research. While we will record identifiable information during the process of collecting and analysing data like your name, email, UID etc., we will not present any identifiable data in reports or publications. This means the only person that can see your name (and any other identifiable information about you in relationship to the data) is Ushini, the primary researcher. If you choose to participate in this research, you can give consent to the following methods of data collection.

  1. data collection from assessment you submit in relation to this course
  2. data collection from your weekly lab work
  3. observational notes from discussion in class around your problem solving

As a thank you, we will send you a $40 Amazon gift voucher.

What’s NOT involved in participating?

Participation in this research will not affect or influence the grade you receive in this course, nor will it affect or influence your relationship with the ANU.

Expression of Interest

If you could fill out the form below, whether it’s a “Yes please” or a “No thanks”, that would be a huge help. By filling out this form, you are not giving consent to your participation, we are just gauging interest at this stage. For anyone who selects “Yes”, we will email you a formal information sheet and consent form for you to sign. You can discuss the details in that form with your parents too.

Here is a link to the expression of interest form Thanks in advance for filling it out. Expression of interest form

If you have any questions about anything regarding this research, please don’t hesitate to email Ushini Attanayake – don’t forget to mention you’re from the ANU Extension course.
