Access is available for students to install the same development environment on there own personal Ubuntu 20.04 machines. All of the software used by the courses in the Linux Labs is available for students to install.

A preconfigured Virtual Box VM (Ubuntu 20.04) is available, this mimics the lab environment and has the repositories preconfigured.

Adding the repository#

To setup the repository to an existing Ubuntu 20.04 machine run the following commands, you can skip this step if using the preconfigured virtual machine.

curl http://cecslabs-pkgs.cecs.anu.edu.au/gpg | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-add-repository "deb [arch=amd64] http://cecslabs-pkgs.cecs.anu.edu.au/cecslabs/ focal cecslabs"
sudo apt-get update

Software Restrictions#

Matlab#

The Matlab package requires you to have the ANU Installation Key and it uses the ANU license server and will not work outside of the ANU networks.

Oracle Java 8#
