Labs

Enrolment#

Before the end of week 1, you need to enrol in a lab session using MyTimetable. Enrolments are already open and we encourage you to enrol as soon as possible. This will help us allocate Tutors to the labs. If you are unsure on how to enrol in labs using MyTimetable, please refer to the dedicated MyTimetable support page and user guide. Note that a lab runs in week 1, but you may attend any of the sessions to get lab 1 marked off. You are also welcome to attend multiple sessions in this first week if you run into trouble with the software setup or lab tasks.

NOTE: As of 27/02, enrollment into lab groups has been locked. Please contact the conveners for any late requests to enroll into or move between labs.

Sessions#

Note:

• Rooms 1.23HN and 1.24HN are in Building 145 (Hanna Neumann), Rooms N115/N116 are in Building 108 (CSIT).
• There will be replacements for labs that would otherwise fall on a holiday (either Canberra Day on 11/3 in week 4 or ANZAC Day on 4/25 in week 8). For ANZAC day, there is going to be a sign-up sheet for replacement labs in the Thursday lab of week 7.

The Labs Repository#

The labs repository is the basis for COMP1110 lab exercises. Instructions for each lab are contained in the lab repository.

In lab 1, you will fork your own copy of this repository, which you will use for the remainder of the semester.

Lab Test#

You will sit an in-lab exam in week four.

Consultations#

There are 1:1 consultation sessions available throughout the week starting in week 2 on-campus. These are 1 hour sessions available to anyone, regardless of when your lab time is, and you do not need to sign up for them. The consulation hours and locations (in weeks with Labs) are:

Consultations in Weeks 10 and 11#

There are no labs in weeks 10 an 11, instead, there will be an increased number of drop-in consultation sessions. Except for Friday, these are all 2 hour sessions, and as before, all are available to anyone, and there is no need to sign up for them. They may get busier as the D2F deadline gets closer, so we recommend making use of them early.

Consultations after Week 12#

The following drop-in sessions are available to anyone, and there is no need to sign up for them. They are all in Room 2.25 in the Hancock Building (Building 43).
