Project —Red Team Cyber Puzzles
Create web facing systems with known vulnerabilities as red team training exercises.
Penten would like to build a number of cyber puzzles. Ideally, each puzzle will involve a web front-end, a back-end component serving requests, and a database. One or more vulnerabilities will be deliberately exposed in each layer, and the attacker is challenged to find the vulnerabilities and gain access to the data. Examples of the mechanisms include:
-
XSS vulnerabilities
-
Misconfigured web servers or databases
-
Unpatched CVEs
-
SQL injection vulnerabilities
-
Anything else that can break or disrupt a service
The project will generate a number puzzles with increasing levels of difficultly, and track the actions of puzzle participants to monitor progress and provide feedback.
