C3 · Week 4: Assignment 1 retro
A brief demo of your Assignment 1 prototype, then articulate the breakthrough.
No fresh provocation this week: the crit reflects on Assignment 1, due the Monday of this week. Give a short demo, then articulate the breakthrough — what you built, and what the process taught you about directing an agent.
Submit the breakthrough in writing by the usual cutoff: name it specifically (a prompt, a harness change, an insight) and show the before/after — what the agent was doing, what changed it, why it worked. The written articulation is what the prototype half of this week’s crit mark reads from; the demo is where you present it.
One timing note: the breakthrough is the same reflections/assignment-1.md that
Assignment 1 reads at the Monday noon deadline, so it has to be in the repo
before you submit. Your crit cutoff may fall later in the week; the version
Assignment 1 marks is the one that was there on Monday. There’s nothing to write
from scratch anyway — the breakthrough should already be in your working log
from the week it happened.
The spec
The brief on this page poses the problem and leaves room for your response. The spec is the fixed contract: what your tutor considers when judging whether that response meets the requirements. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for human judgement.
