Intellectual Property, Software Licensing, and Free and Open-Source Software

Software is a critical component of the computing systems that support just about every aspect of our society. Software is created for diverse reasons by diverse groups of people. But who decides how it should be used?

In this session, we’ll discuss intellectual property and copyright as it relates to software. We’ll look at common types of software licenses including free and open-source licenses, and what they mean for software development practices and innovation.
