Teaching and Student Pathways

The ‘Of the Practice’ roles provide an unrivalled opportunity for highly experienced industry and government practitioners to create and develop the career pathways of the next generation of computing graduates. Bring your wealth of experience to training and guiding our students into fulfilling and rewarding careers. The Digital Skills in the Australian and International Economies report from the National Skills Commission shows that Digital Skills are dominating emerging skills in Australia. For example, demand for software orchestration/automation skills has grown almost 30 times, with growth in this skill exceeding all other skills from 2016 to 2020. With Digital skills in high demand, in occupations beyond traditional IT and Computing professions, it is critical for industry and government to play an active role in preparing students for their careers in the workforce. Our ‘Of the Practice’ positions will play a key part in developing the necessary professional skills and providing professional context to our students. You can hear about the teaching experience in the School of Computing from some of our amazing lecturers below.
