Biography

Born in Melbourne. Received BSc (Hons), MSc and PhD from Melbourne University in 1975, 1976 and 1980, respectively. Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee from 1980 to 1983. Academic at ANU from 1983 until retiring as professor in 2016.

1997: Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science

2000: Fellowship of the Australian Mathematical Society

2010: Invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians

2014: Combinatorial Mathematics Society of Australasia Medal for outstanding lifelong contribution

2019: Medal of the University of Gent, Belgium

2019: Medal of the Francqui Foundation, Belgium

1994–present: Editor-in-Chief of the Electronic Journal of Combinatorics
