Liquid Instruments Internship: Implement automatic app updating in macOS and Windows apps

Liquid Instruments

Liquid Instruments (https://www.liquidinstruments.com) is a Canberra start-up, founded by a team of physicists and engineers at ANU, that develops the Moku range of scientific test and measurement hardware.

**Project **\

We have desktop and mobile apps that provide the graphical interface to our Moku hardware. Our macOS and Windows apps are built from the same C++ codebase, using the Qt framework.

Currently, when we release new versions of our macOS or Windows apps, existing customers need to perform several steps to update to the new version. We’re looking for someone to implement automatic app updating, to make it a one-click operation.

Your tasks will be:

* Integrate the Sparkle framework (https://sparkle-project.org), or similar, into our macOS app.\

  • Integrate an equivalent library, or write something from scratch, to do the same in our Windows app.\
  • Coordinate any uploads required to our file server.\
  • Document any changes to our release procedure.

**Required technical skills**\

Must have good knowledge of one or more of C++, Objective-C, or Swift.
