Naturehelm Internship:Data Integration and Analytics Internship

10 May 2024

This position is offered through the ANU Computing Internship ([COMP3820] /[ COMP4820] / [COMP8830])

**Company**\

NatureHelm https://www.naturehelm.com/

At NatureHelm, we are Integrating Biodiversity and Business to enable companies to successfully navigate the complex world of biodiversity risks and opportunities. We provide global biodiversity intelligence for making better business decisions, and are revolutionising how both corporates and their suppliers/portfolios understand, manage and report on biodiversity. We provide curated data insights to meet compliance requirements and enhance business sustainability. This is in a new business in an emerging market focused on the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures.

**Project **\

Naturehelm is an emerging startup that is creating a location-specific biodiversity data platform that empowers corporations and their global supply chains to quickly comprehend, monitor and fulfill biodiversity reporting needs.

Therefore, Naturehelm is harnessing a wealth of global data that requires assessment and integration to reveal insightful guidance for our platform users as they navigate their biodiversity journey: Locate - Evaluate - Assess - Report.

Proposed Project

A substantial number of datasets support their own, distinctive and self-contained function within the platform. Depending on the product roadmap at the start time of the internship, we will have a range of self-contained data stories in need of implementation to grow the platform’s capability. This typically involves: Assessment and evaluation of the data source, development and implementation of a data integration strategy as well as the development and implementation of suitable presentations and visualizations within the platform.

The internship will provide close guidance on the processes and technologies involved such as using Jupyter Notebooks to perform initial exploratory tasks and evaluation, development of data extraction and integration tasks for Naturehelms ELT processes as well as the implementation of visualizations within the Naturehelm Platform.

Benefits to the student

Data Science and Data Engineering roles are in high demand. This internship will provide the student with industry experience working with standard tools and methodologies by taking them through an end-to-end process from raw data to visualization and presentation of insights and prepare them to successfully enter the job market.

**Required technical skills**\

Ideally, these projects would suit a 2nd or 3rd year student of computer science/data science related degrees with sound experience developing scripts and applications in Python and SQL.

Desirable:

- Experience working with data and databases

- Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, possibly React

- Interest and experience with Geospatial Data

- Interest and experience in Cloud Services (AWS)

**Delivery Mode**\

In-person

**Type of internship**\

Paid placement.
