Lab Engagement#

Courses (Course Mark %):
  • COMP1110 (10 %)
  • COMP1140 (5 %)
  • COMP6710 (10 %)

Starting in week 2, weekly lab sessions provide an opportunity to practice course material with provided exercises. You must register for a lab in MyTimetable by week 2, and are expected to participate in those labs in person.

Your lab engagement is a marked assessment component of the course (the overall value within the course depends on your course code). Your mark on the lab engagement component is based on the percentage of 40 lab engagement marks that you obtain. Each of the 10 labs starting in week 3 is worth 4 marks:

  • 1 mark for a basic level of engagement in the lab
  • 1 additional mark for a good level of engagement in the lab
  • 1 mark for a genuine attempt at each set of exercises
  • 1 additional mark for an attempt that is of good quality (i.e. largely correct, good style)

The labs in week 4 will simulate an exam, so you will be acquainted with the exam environment for the week 5 test in the following week. Be sure to be in the lab at its scheduled start time in order to participate in the simulation.

Lab exercises are provided and submitted on GitLab. Except for the simulated exam component in week 4, if you are unable to finish your lab exercises during the allocated lab time, you have until 23:59 (Canberra time) on Friday of the same week to update your lab repository. In order to have your lab exercises marked and get feedback on them, you must ensure that our marker user has sufficient access to your repository (this should work by default if you fork the template repository and leave its name unchanged).
